Solo Trombone

What instrument did you start learning on?
Started on cornet with Kingdom Brass Youth Initiative but quickly moved onto euphonium, after a few years on the euphonium I changed to trombone.

What was your first contest and with what band?
My first contest was the Fife Charities Band Association contest at the Adam Smith in Kirkcaldy. I played second baritone with Dysart and we played ‘Dimensions’ by Peter Graham.

2010

When did you join the Co?
January 2018

What is your favourite test piece?
Favourite test piece I have played would be James Curnow’s ‘Trittico’. My favourite that would love to play in the future would be ‘Spiriti’ by Thomas Doss

Where is your favourite venue for performing?
Perth Concert Hall

What was your most enjoyable moment in banding?
Playing ‘Trittico’ with Tullis at the European Championships is a definitely a highlight. Winning the 2020 Scottish Championships was amazing

What do you dislike about brass bands?
Don’t really enjoy playing outdoors, always scared I’m going to drop the slide.

If you had to choose another instrument what would it be?
I would love to be able to play the piano.
