Christopher Keane

Cornet

The position of Third Cornet is supported by Tigers Group

Christopher Keane began learning the Cornet at the age of 8 at the Salvation Army in Rutherglen. During his school years, he developed his musical talents by taking lessons and performing as principal trumpet in both the Senior Concert Band and the South Lanarkshire Orchestral Society Schools Senior Concert Band. After leaving school, he continued his studies in classical music performance, focusing on the trumpet, at Stevenson College for two years.

Christopher’s introduction to contesting bands came at the age of 17 when he joined Coalburn Silver Band, starting on Third Cornet and later progressing to Soprano. He went on to play Repiano Cornet with Kirkintilloch Kelvin before joining “The Co” in 2017. Since then, he has performed in numerous memorable concerts and contests, with highlights including the British Open, European Championships, and the National Finals in London.

In addition to his role with “The Co,” Christopher also serves as Soprano Cornet for the Bellshill Salvation Army Band.

Outside of his musical commitments, Christopher works as an Early Years Nursery Manager in the North East of Glasgow. He enjoys watching football, especially supporting the Glasgow Rangers, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
