🎺 A Double Concert Weekend for The Cooperation Band in Orkney 🎺

We’re delighted to be heading to Orkney next week month for two special performances as part of the St Magnus Festival.

📍 Friday 26 June – St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall

We are honoured to join The Wallace Collection for a performance of John Wallace’s transcription of Giovanni Gabrieli’s Invisible Symphony. This extraordinary work places five brass choirs around the cathedral, creating a breathtaking surround-sound experience within one of Scotland’s most iconic sacred spaces.

Following John Wallace’s passing earlier this year, this concert will serve as a fitting tribute to his life, legacy and immense contribution to brass music.

📍 Saturday 27 June – Orkney Auction Mart, Kirkwall

For the first time since our Brass in Concert victory last year, we will restage our award-winning production La Première as part of the concert Now Westlin’ Winds.

Joined by actor Elizabeth McNally, this immersive performance dramatically retells the infamous 1913 premiere of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring—a night that shocked Paris and changed the course of musical history forever. Through music, theatre and storytelling, audiences will be transported into a world of glamour, scandal, artistic revolution and creative ambition.

The first half of the concert features a programme inspired by wind, atmosphere and storytelling, including:

✨ The world premiere of The Spirit of the North by Andrew Duncan
✨ Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances
✨ Jan de Haan’s Mirage
✨ Now Westlin’ Winds
✨ Gold Saturday by Orkney resident and Master of the King’s Music, Errollyn Wallen

We’re looking forward to sharing two unforgettable concerts with audiences in Orkney and to being part of another fantastic St Magnus Festival.

We hope to see you there!
