Joey grew up in East London, where he started his musical journey learning French horn with Redbridge Music Service, before picking up percussion around the age of 15 and quickly joining Becontree Brass Band. From there, he moved to Glasgow to study French horn at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and joined Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass, with whom he played for just over 10 years. Performance highlights include the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, the BBC Proms with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, and being part of the first orchestra on St Kilda with Nevis Ensemble. Away from the band, Joey has a busy freelance career as an arranger, engraver, concert producer and tour manager, alongside working at the University of Glasgow.
